This rental is ideally situated at the gateway to year-round outdoor adventures, whether you're looking to get out on the water, explore the land, or race through the snow. This home features lakefront access with level fisherman frontage and a private dock, as well as two single kayaks, and a canoe to help you explore the 1,100-acre High Lake-Fishtrap chain and the 230,000-acre Northern Highland-American Legion State Forest that protects much of the lake's shoreline. At night, gather around the wood-burning fireplace to enjoy some cozy conversation, or unwind with a good book with your dogs curled up at your feet.

Neighboring High Lake (accessible from a public boat landing) and Fishtrap Lake are both large, 40-foot-deep, clear water lakes located in Vilas County. Resident fish include Musky, Panfish, Largemouth Bass, Smallmouth Bass, Northern Pike, and Walleye. The Manitowish River starts at High Lake and flows gently west where it joins the Bear River to form the North Branch of the Flambeau River. This 44-mile stretch of river is a designated canoe route (NHAL Canoe Route).
For additional adventures, the Sylvania Wilderness, just a little over 18 miles away, is a beautiful 18,000-acre preserve that feels like a smaller version of the Boundary Waters. Old-growth forests and crystal clear lakes dominate the landscape here. This primitive wilderness is a great place to enjoy a day of fishing, paddling, and solitude. Take your pick of trails in the Ottawa National Forest less than 30 miles north, or walk through the Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest just a few towns over to the east. You'll also find the paved, 52-mile Heart of Vilas County bike trail just five miles from your rental.
Plus, during the winter months, there are also more than 30 cross country ski sites, with over 300 miles of trails, all within 50 miles of the cottage!
