Summary: Loved the hotel, the food was excellent, the prices were very reasonable, and the service was outstanding. However, **avoid any room overlooking 4th Street.** The traffic noise was absolutely unbearable, and we got very little sleep. Trucks using engine retarders, motorcycles with straight-through exhausts, and modified trucks racing through the street made it one of the worst nights I have ever experienced in a hotel. We complained and received a polite “We are so sorry,” but that simply wasn’t good enough. The hotel has been operating since the late 1800s, so surely this complaint has been made before. Management should be well aware of the problem and should have a solution in place, such as soundproofing, better room allocation, or warning guests in advance. If you are assigned a room facing 4th Street, **request to be moved immediately**. The noise seriously affected our stay.
